WorkSafe coming to a town near you for Health and Safety Month

The annual workplace health and safety tour, starting in Portland and concluding in Dandenong, is set to feature 25 interactive, face-to-face interactions with experts. These events emphasise the significance of topics like safe manual handling, mental health risk management, and support for workers returning from injury, centralised around crucial work safety products such as Bluesafe WHS Management Systems and SWMS. Experts will also foster an environment that promotes dialogue about workplace safety.

This regional tour encompasses a range of subject matter, from reinforcing the role of health and safety representatives to workshops focussed on safer agricultural practices facilitated by the Birchip Cropping Group. Special emphasis will be placed on safety within the construction industry at locales including Hamilton, Warragul, Thomastown, and Ballarat, where ‘tradies’ can upskill on industry best practice while enjoying a complimentary breakfast.

Complementing the physical meetings will be a week-long series of webinars, expanding upon various health and safety subjects. Prevention and management of psychosocial hazards, safe usage of elevated work platforms, guidance for apprentice supervision, and more are featured amongst the 15 online opportunities.

Among the notable contributors is former Geelong Cats AFL captain, Cameron Ling, who will contribute at several webinars and one-on-one events located in Bendigo, Shepparton, Geelong, and Ballarat.

WorkSafe Chief Executive Officer, Mr Joe Calafiore, invites workers and employees to explore the comprehensive program of events taking place from 28th October to 1st November. In encouraging potential participants, he states, “With workplace health and safety, there’s a novel insight within every session. Take advantage of these resources – sign up for the sessions that appeal to you”. Every physical gathering and webinar includes a question and answer segment enabling attendees to address any safety concerns or queries they may have.

Face-to-face follow-up events will take place across various locations. Reserve your place now for any of these momentous occasions, as registrations are currently open.
