Worker fatally struck by metal bucket

The unfortunate incident involving a 36-year-old worker who was tragically struck on the head by a metal bucket during a casting operation has been brought to our attention. The occurrence took place whilst he was manoeuvering a mould with the aid of a winch, at which point the bucket, containing a chain length, detached from its position atop a gantry, resulting in this regrettable accident.

An investigation is currently underway by WorkSafe, utilising all available resources, including WHS management systems and rigorous SWMS, to ensure such incidents are prevented in future.

This tragic event marks the 29th confirmed workplace fatality for 2024. It’s worth noting that there were 55 work-related fatalities recorded at the same period in the previous year.
