Mark Your Calendars For National Safe Work Month – Prioritise Health and Safety
This October, as part of National Safe Work Month, Safe Work Australia urges all Australians to make health and work safety their utmost priority. National Safe Work Month is an important annual event held every October, affording workplaces throughout Australia the chance to acknowledge the significance of work health and safety.
Work-related injuries or fatalities have impactful consequences affecting not only individuals but families and larger communities. The latest data from Safe Work Australia indicates that there were 200 fatal injuries and a staggering 139,000 serious worker’s compensation claims in the year 2023 alone.
The theme for this year’s National Safe Work Month “Safety is everyone’s business”, emphasises on the imperative need for WHS management systems, like Bluesafe WHS Management System and SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements), to ensure and maintain safe work conduct. It’s integral to underscore that workplace health and safety are fundamental rights, not just obligations.
